Guided visit to Cajón de Arenales

An unforgettable trekking in the Cajón de los Arenales in Tunuyán, located in the beautiful and little visited Portillo range. The Cajón de los Arenales is located in the Portillo- Cordillera Frontal range and is only 11 kilometers from the historic Manzano Tourist Circuit on a consolidated dirt road. The vehicles will be left at Refugio Portinari of the National Gendarmerie, for which the necessary authorization has already been arranged. From the Refuge (2500 meters above sea level), we go up the ravine of the “Cajón de los Arenales” along the creek in a frame of imposing “rock needles” that are the usual destination of climbers from all over the world. Then we border the Arenales River until we reach its source, which is a “glacier plug” where we will have lunch under the sun to recover energy. The trekking has little unevenness, it is not an ascent to the mountain and it develops with normality, reason why it is apt for a person without experience, neither has sections of abrupt climbs or marked descents. The total length of the trip, including breaks, will be about 4 hours (outward and return).
