Day 1 – Transfer Mendoza – Vallecitos
Night in a mountain refuge and short acclimatization trekking.
Day 2 – Trekking from the refuge to Veguitas superior where we will camp.
The hike will take us approximately 2:30 hours to reach the camping site.
Due to the presence of natural meadows and streams we will be able to observe a great number of bird species.
Day 3 – Trekking to El Salto camp (4200 m) and overnight stay.
In this camp we will be able to observe high altitude mountains such as Vallecitos and Rincón, both of them over 5000 m.
Rincón, both of them over 5000 m. If we are lucky we will be able to see Condors and guanacos.
Day 4 – Rest day at El Salto camp.
Day 5 – Trekking to La Hoyada camp and night in the same place
This day will take approximately 2 hours. Already in this camp we will be able to observe part of what will be the of what will be the way to the summit.
Day 6 – Summit day to Cerro Plata and descent to La Hoyada camp.
The ascent will take us between 7 to 9 hours to reach the summit. From there we will be able to see Aconcagua, the highest mountain in America, the Tupungato volcano (6500m), the Cordón del Peine and other high altitude mountains.
Day 7 – Descent from La Hoyada camp and transportation to Mendoza city.
Day 8 – Extra day in case of bad weather.
Feet:
– 2 pairs of thin synthetic inner socks.
– 4 pairs of thick warm socks (ski type)
– 1 pair of boots or comfortable trekking shoes.
– 1 pair of gaiters.
Legs:
– 1 Thin, synthetic underpants.
– 1 Thick warm pants.
– 1 Waterproof pants.
– 1 Long and comfortable walking pants.
Trunk:
– 2 Synthetic undershirts.
– 1 Synthetic sweatshirt or polo shirt.
– 1 fleece jacket or similar.
– 1 warm jacket (duvet or synthetic).
– 1 waterproof jacket.
Head:
– Sun hat.
– Warm hat.
– Thin balaclava.
– Good sunglasses with UV filter and side and nose protectors if possible.
– A pair of ski goggles.
– A neckerchief.
Expedition Material:
– Book or anything to help distract us in the tent.
– 1 sunscreen cream.
– Water bottle x 2Lts.
– 6 pairs of hand warmers.
– Mattress for high mountain (mattres).
– Headlamp with spare batteries.
– Stainless steel thermos of half or 1 liter per person.
– Personal crockery (deep plate, pitcher, fork and spoon).
– 1 duvet or synthetic sleeping bag for – 30º C.
– Personal hygiene items.

- – Transportation from Mendoza to Vallecitos (2900 m)

- – Food and drinks throughout all trekking days
- – Muleteer (horse and cargo handler)
