Previous day: It is recommended to stay one night before in Tunuyán to rest, check and/or rent equipment.
Day 1 – Reception in the city of Tunuyán 09:00 hs. Transfer to the Natural and Cultural Reserve “Manzano Histórico”, where the Sanmartiniano Monument “Retorno a la Patria” is located, from this point we will continue by dirt road until we reach the Portinaris customs and gendarmerie control. Beginning of the trekking up to the Scaravelli refuge area.
Day 2 – Breakfast and approach to the base of Portillo by van to continue walking a few hours to reach the Portillo Argentino window at 4,340 m.a.s.l. (historic place where the meeting between San Martin and Olazabal took place on his way back from Guayaquil). Guayaquil). From there we will be able to observe the imposing glacier of the Piuquenes hill with its 6,000 masl. We will continue the trail down the Olla valley to the area of the Real de la Cruz refuge. We will set up camp, have dinner and spend the night.
Day 3 – Breakfast. On this day we will walk through the most beautiful area of the crossing, we will be walking next to the southernmost seismiles in the world: the Nevado de Piuquenes and Marmolejo. We will cross the Tunuyán River and, after a short rest, we will continue to the Palomino Valley, We will continue to the Palomares Valley until we reach the Caletón, where we will set up our camp. Dinner and overnight.
Day 4 – Breakfast and start of the trail that takes us to the Piuquenes Pass milestone where the border between the two countries is located and where we can enjoy a breathtaking view, added to the excitement of having achieved our goal. After lunch we will descend the road on the back of mules to our camp in Caletón. Dinner and overnight.
Day 5 – Breakfast. Beginning of the activity with the dismantling of the camp, this day we will return on horseback to the area of the Real de la Cruz refuge. We will set up camp, have dinner and spend the night.
Day 6 – Breakfast. Very early in the morning we will start our horseback ride to the Portillo Argentino and from there the vehicles will be waiting for us. From there the vehicles will be waiting for us to take us to Tunuyán. End of the service 20:00 hs
